Exploring Tháp Bà Ponagar Tower – Ancient Temple – Cheap activities Nha Trang Vietnam
I always love exploring ancient places around the world. The Po Nagar tower is no exception. It was built sometime before 781 C.E. The ruins are in spectacular shape and the temple still stands today even though it is over 1239 years old. You’re not allowed to wear shorts, have a camera or a hat if you want to go inside the temple. Since I had all 3, I decided it was best that I just enjoy it from the outside.
Costs 20K dong to get it, that’s 0.86 cents USD or 1.09 CND. Definitely a cheap / affordable activity to do in Nha Trang Vietnam. You need a mask to get into the site. They don’t provide them but you can buy a pack of them at the store right beside the temple grounds.
When you climb to the top, you get one of the most beautiful views of Nha Trang from up there!! They have an area with tables in the shade to relax with a shop where you can buy refreshments. This even includes beer which I thought was funny. When we were there they had a Champa dance and music show for us to enjoy.
Gorgeous site with a lot of fascinating history. In the 17th century, the Vietnamese people occupied this area and took over the temple tower, calling it Thiên Y Thánh Mâu Tower. A number of Vietnamese legends regarding the goddess and the tower have come into being. Durga, the slayer of the buffalo-demon, is represented on the pediment above the entrance to the temple.
