About Komodo Dragon Island In Bali

Komodo Dragon Island, more commonly known as Komodo Island, is not located in Bali but is part of the Lesser Sunda chain of Indonesian islands. It is famous for being the natural habitat of the Komodo dragon, the largest living species of lizard. The island is part of the Komodo National Park, which also includes several other islands and marine areas.

Komodo Island is quite a distance from Bali. Visitors often travel to Komodo National Park from Bali by plane, with a common route being a flight to Labuan Bajo on the western tip of Flores Island. The park’s conservation efforts aim to protect the Komodo dragons and their environment, ensuring that this unique ecosystem remains for future generations.

The park is very dry and the walk board is open with no shade, you can bring an umbrella. The rangers give you water before starting, they give commentaries of the trees and the island. There is a museum in Rinca Island which has AC and with the skeletons of the dragons. They hide under shade during very hot weather. There are buffalos and gazelles roaming around for the komodos to eat.

Such a beautiful island national park with many islands. Would recommend a two day boat trip to see it all (spend a night on the boat) and do wake up to get the best sunrise view. Make sure you stop by the manta Ray area for a quick swim with the mantas as they glide right below you. Must visit if in Indonesia ! Take a quick two day trip from Bali.
